PRAGLA is a modular vertical farming construction designed and built for UptownGreens for the purpose of optimizing the hydroponic system in the most sustainable way. Originally PRAGLA is designed to be modular for it to be placed in restaurants/cafes to promote sustainability locally in The Hague. By implementing ZipGrow to the hydroponic construction, it’s able to grow plants (and in this case mint) that would be able for direct consumption.
The vision of the client of this project is to make urban farming easily available, and he wants to achieve that by starting to demonstrate the idea of urban farming to a broad audience locally. While our vision as designers is to not only focusing on presenting the best mechanism possible but also looking far wide at how the materials can be re-used in the future to prevent waste in the life cycle by making sure that the concept would be sustainable.
Sustainability
For me, as a product and service designer, creating and building a successful product is about fulfilling the needs and relieving the issues of the user. During years of study, along with various different experiences in working with different clients, I believe that every design problem could be solved with creativity and persistency. One of my biggest strengths is that I like to learn. I believe that every knowledge from both achievements and failures would be useful and help me as a designer in the future.
